Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection

ICSI

In intracytoplasmic sperm injection eggs are extracted out of the woman’s ovary. The eggs are brought to the laboratory, where, using high resolution microscopes and micromanipulators, a single spermatozoid is introduced (injected) into each egg.

After 2 or 3 days the fertilized eggs (now 4 or 8 cells embryos) are placed directly into the uterus to be implanted and proceed with the 9 months gestation.

Another treatment option for the absence of sperm is the artificial insemination using donor sperm, IAD.
