We know that traveling to another country to undergo medical treatment can sometimes be complicated. In this section we give you more information about the cities where our centers are located so that your trip to Colombia being more comfortable, quiet and efficient for you and your companions.
If you need to go to the city of Bogotá in the next few days for a fertility treatment, our recommendations for a safe stay are:
– Bogotá is the capital of the country and has an international airport for travelers coming to town. Make sure you have your documents in order (passport, identity card, visa if required, etc.) to ensure a smooth arrival in Colombia.
– Remember to obtain travel insurance before you arrive in the city.
– If you are undergoing an in vitro fertilization (IVF) process in Bogotá, you will need to stay in the capital for a minimum of 17-18 days. Talk to your doctor about how long you should stay in the city.
– Bogotá has a comprehensive public transportation network, including a bus system called Transmilenio. You can ask the hotel staff for advice on how to safely navigate the capital. You can also use taxis, Cabify, Uber, etc.
– Avoid withdrawing large sums of money from ATMs in unsafe locations. If you need cash, ask for police assistance to avoid theft and other inconveniences.
– Most public places (shopping malls, cafes, shops, cinemas) accept international credit cards. Therefore, avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
– Exchange your money at reputable exchange houses. You can use Western Union, Easy Money, and other trusted places.
– The city has a cold-temperate climate, with average temperatures of 14 degrees Celsius that can drop in the evenings and at certain times of the year. It is advisable to wear clothes such as coats, jackets, and sweaters.
– Some areas of the city offer free WiFi, but this is not widespread. Before you travel, check with your phone company on how to use your cell phone in Colombia.

– If you have some free time, we recommend visiting places such as The Gold Museum, the Botero Museum, the National Museum, Usaquén, La Candelaria, among others.

If you need to travel to Medellín or Rionegro for your next fertility treatment, we suggest the following recommendations:
– Medellín has two airports: Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport (located in the west of the city) and José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro (located approximately 50 minutes from Medellín). Keep this information in mind when scheduling your trips to and from the airport to avoid delays.
– To explore the city, we recommend using the Metro system and its integrated transport routes. You can also use Uber, taxis, Cabify, etc.
– Remember to obtain travel insurance before you arrive in the country.
– The city has a climate that ranges between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. Therefore, wearing comfortable clothes such as jeans, cotton garments, and sneakers will make your stay in Medellín more enjoyable.
– The area where the INSER centers are located (El Poblado neighborhood) is also one of the main hotel areas in Medellín. We recommend staying in a hotel near the clinic to facilitate your travel.
– If you need to exchange dollars, we recommend going to recognized exchange houses, such as Western Union or Easy Money. Also, remember to withdraw money in safe areas to avoid theft and other mishaps.

– The INSER center in Rionegro is located in eastern Antioquia, approximately 50 minutes from Medellín. Therefore, if you must visit this site frequently, it is advisable to stay in hotels nearby to avoid long trips. In the area, you can find quality accommodations that will facilitate your trip to Medellín. During “peak hours” (between 7 and 9 am and between 5 and 7 pm), traffic in Medellín and its metropolitan area is usually dense. Schedule your outings in advance to avoid delays.
